LCAVFD minutes of June 10th meeting at Center Star VFD

 

The meeting was called to order by Secretary, Jim Hulsizer at 7:33PM.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

 

Roll call with 9 of 14 departments present.  Central, Cloverdale, Elgin Oakland and Rogersville were absent.  A Quorum was present.

 

Officers present included, Jim Hulsizer – Secretary, Steve McEachron – Treasurer, Scott Childers – Fire Prevention, Kenny Laxson – Special Projects, Ted Kavich – Training.

 

Our guests were introduced:

Augie Hendershot – Candidate for Lauderdale County Sheriff

Danny Pettus – Candidate for State Representative, District 1

Kelley Aday – Sam Newton Ins.

Chris Willis – Air Med Care Network (AirEvac)

Angela Broyle – State Commission

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were presented motion to approve by Trent Putman, second by Steve Watkins, and motion passed.

 

The agenda was presented, motion to approve by Kayln Riley, second by Johnny Dennis, motion passed.

 

The Treasurer’s report was read:

      • Operating account = $49,838.52
      • Fire Prevention account = $10,809.69 
      • Both accounts balance.

A motion to approve was made by Pete (Center Star) and second by Trent Putman, and motion passed.

 


UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 

  • Containers - Ted Kavich and others are working on this project and a grant has been applied for.

  • Honor Guard - Kenny is working on this, getting additional bids from Emergency Wear.  He will need the names of 
  • the candidates from each department.

  • Health Screenings - need the names from each department to Adam.

  • Smokehouse Renovations and Repairs – Scott has completed repairs except for one door handle, he will take it to 
  • have it cleaned up closer to Fire Prevention Week

  • Storm Shelter Registration – Adam has several registered, Kenny said if a department has not received a registration package to contact him and he will get a package to that department.  

  • LCAVFD Shirts - Chris Miller has the samples and prices, order forms available to take back to your department.  

  • Disaster Response – Ted and the Chiefs are working on setting up two teams for the county, more information to follow.

 

  • Plat Books – 250 books have been ordered and will be here around November 1st and dated 2015 and will reflect 2014 data within one month of delivery. Motion was made by Trent Putman to move $5,023.95from the Plat Book account to the General account to cover the cost of the books, seconded by Steve Watkins, motion passed with an addendum to reduce the cost of the current Plat book to $15.00.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

  • North Alabama State Fair Recruitment Table – Motion made by Kayln Riley to split the cost of a table with the Colbert County Assoc. of Vol. Fire Dept.($50.00) seconded by Trent Putman, motion passed.

  • Training – Ted is working to setup an EMR class for the county with Doug Hatton, dates and times to follow. The online Fire Fighter I class is being organized and more information will follow. The online class is available for everyone in the county.
