LCAVFD minutes of February 18th meeting at Waterloo VFD.

Pres. McCanless called the meeting to Order
 
The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

Roll call with 13 of 14 departments present, Elgin was absent.  A quorum was present.

Our guests were presented:  
Brett Martin – Candidate for Laud. Co. Sheriff
Rick Singleton - Candidate for Laud. Co. Sheriff
Jeremy Baker –Candidate for Laud. Co. Sheriff
Sam Newton – Sam Newton’s Insurance
Phillip Pettus – District 1 State Representative
Danny Pettus – Candidate for County Commissioner, District 1
Chris Willis - Air Evac
Kirk Jones – Radio Shop
Faye Parker – County Commissioner
Tim Greer – Lauderdale County EMA
Joe Hackworth – Candidate for County Commissioner, District 2
Greg Montgomery – Candidate for County Commissioner, District 2
Kelley Aday, Sam Newton’s Insurance

 

The minutes of the previous meeting were presented, motion by Wesley Smith, second by Justin Bishop to accept, and passed.
The agenda was presented, motion by David Charles, second by Wesley Smith to accept, and passed.

 

Treasurer’s report was presented:  
Operating account = $58,452.90
Fire Prevention account = $3,374.50
All accounts balanced.   
Wesley Smith motion to accept, second by David Charles, and the motion passed.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

The containers were discussed, putting numbers together to see if we want to do burn or confined space – in process

The Ambulance:  ready to go, waiting on Smokey Bear copyright issues.

The Annual Banquet was discussed:  served about 300 plates. Possibly menu change and entertainment change next year.

Platt Books:  will try to get him in next month.

R & R workshop was discussed:  50% of LCVFD attended.

Health Screenings – Heart health – Florence Firefighters union pays for, will pay for 5 people from each department starting March 1st.

BYLAWS - giving copies to all chiefs

Dues – Rogersville, Lexington, and Greenhill owe dues

 

NEW BUSINESS

Fair Parking – No one can help us if they are not on a roster of a LCVFD fire department.

2015 LCAVFD 37th Annual Banquet, January 31, 2015, Cross Point

Fire and Life Safety Day- touched on locations of event and decisions will be made at later date.

Debit Cards – issued to new board members

UCP Telethon - $250.00 donation was suggested.  Motion made by Wesley Smith and seconded by Joe Maxell.  Motion passed to donate $250.00

Gym membership – YMCA will offer ½ off joining fee, Courthouse offers no joining fee and $45 per month membership, Max Fitness – no response yet


BOARD MEMBER REPORTS:

Steve McEachron – If a group purchases tickets, they need to be given to the
members of the group or the group needs to have a representative at the banquet early.

Ted Kavich – LPG Burn Trailer April 7th thru the 11th
    Live Burn Trailer June 2nd thru the 7th
    Chief’s Meeting Tuesday, February 25th at 7:00
    


The next regular meeting will be held in Zip City on March 11, 2014.
