October 8, 2013 Minutes

Mtg. called to order at 8:05 PM,   Thanks to Rogersville VFD. Pledge of allegiance,           Roll call w/11 of 14 depts. present.          Guest speakers,       Sam Newton, Ins.      A. Hendershot, candidate for Lauderdale Co. sheriff,         Blake Hargett, Shoals ambulance,      George Grabran, Lauderdale Co. EMA,       Rea Fulmer, previous Co. Commissioner and Jerry Pettus, candidate for Co. Commissioner.    Roger Garner, Co. Commissioner, and Richard Hurston, Rogersville Mayor were both present but had to leave before the mtg. started.                 Minutes of the previous mtg. were read .        The Agenda was presented,  motion by D. Charles, second by R. M.,  Agenda approved.           Treasurer’s report was given, motion to approve by T. Putman, second by J. White,  approved
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - training containers were discussed, will be discussed more at the Chief’s mtg. Oct 22nd.
Fire Life and Safety Day, Octoberfest, Competitions were discussed and Awards were given.   Rogersville got 1st  overall,  Underwood  received 2nd overall,  the Trama Queens received 3rd overall and will donate their winnings to BREAST CANCER AWARENESS.        Fair Parking was discussed, thanks to all who worked,   parking went very well,   THIS IS one of our BIG FUND RAISERS,   $4,700.00.  We have been doing this for 16 yrs.         Adam needs the names for free health screenings.     Status of the Ambulance was discussed, hitch is being installed,  questions about a radio,       BOD election,  no nominees, will wait until next mtg.       GROUNDS WORK AT ADMINISTRATON BLDG.   Jim H. spoke to this.     Motion by D. Charles second by T. Putman to put $2,000.00 toward rip-rap or sod to fix this problem.  Motion passed,
   Cleve Miles will get bids and work on this.
NEW BUSINESS          We are looking at a 2001 Ford F550, 7.3 diesel flatbed truck w/199,000 miles,   $7,000.00 + $2,500.00 donation receipt.   We have received $5,000.00 each from T. Irons & G. Burdine towards the purchase of a truck,  another grant has been submitted to L. Greer.      Motion by T. Putman second by R. M. to spent up to $10,000.00 to buy the truck and outfit it for necessary work.    Motion passed.       Steve is working on the 2014 budget, any input wil be appreciated.                    THE ANNUAL BANQUET WILL BE Feb. 8th at Cross Point Church activity bldg.   Please get your pictures to Adam M. as soon as possible.     Steve Brogan will be the entertainer this year.       Adam needs  help with the Smoke Trailer Schedule, notify him soon.       Adam attended a Recruitment & Retention workshop in FL.    He is trying to get one here for Feb.8th  & 9th  to work with our annual banquet.   They will present one here in June 2014 free of charge.      He will meet in Nov. to finalize the date.   Adam has the Audit forms necessary for Mrs. Bryant, with the Co. Commission,    Get yours for your dept..         Steve will pass out the 2014 VFA grant applications & 2014 Financial Assistance applications,  all depts. get w/ him for your apps.    Steve will also pass out the Personal Fire Shelters that have not been picked up,          See him about the training.          Board Member Reports,             Trent Putman requested all depts. that can, bring a truck to the BREAST CANCER AWARENESS Pink Fire Truck parade & school visit day Oct. 17th. Starting at Brooks High School at 8:00 A.M.                 Beth Childress, Anderson VFD, will be Memorialized at the State Fire College on Sat. Oct. 12th.        
Don’t forget the Chief’s mtg. Oct. 22, at the Adm. Bldg.         Next mtg. a St. Florian Community Center w/Mid-Lauderdale.
